Frequent Asking Questions

What Los Cabos means?

Los Cabos means, The Capes. Los Cabos County has two mayor towns, San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, they are 20 miles apart, of what we call, the Touristic Corridor.
The Touristic Corridor is where you find most Golf Courses, swimming beaches and five star Resorts.

Can I pay with dollars?

Yes, you can. Since Los Cabos is a Tourist destination, US dollars are welcome everywhere. You just need to ask what is the exchange rate, that vary from place to place and from day to day.
To check the official exchange rate, click here.
As a rule of thumb, if the price is quoted in dollars, pay with dollars. If the price is in pesos, pay with credit card. You do not need to exchange to pesos.

Where can I get some pesos?

As I mention before, you do not need pesos in Los Cabos, but if you insist, the best way to get pesos, is from an ATM, the exchange rate will be set by your own bank in your statement, and the ATM will charge you a fee of about 6 dollars for a debit card, or up to 8 dollars for a credit card cash advance. The Marina and the streets, are full of ATMs, it is a big business, some give you US dollars, and some pesos.
Most banks won't exchange your dollars to pesos, unless you have an acount with them, and even if you do, they accept them as a deposit, and then, you withdraw. This is a way for Mexico's IRS (SAT) to control taxes and money laundry.
